Hallowe'en 2023 costume - kawaii magical girl Baphomet...

So, this silly thing was my final decision for this year's Hallowe'en costume.  The only thing left to buy is white furry leg warmers (when they arrive in stock at "Spirit"), which I am going to wear over some black "ninja" style shoes, so they look like goat hooves.  This is one of the silliest costumes I have done in a while... it was time to lighten the mood.  (And speaking of lighting, this is another LED costume, because the flame coming out of the top has LEDs in it so it glows at night.)

"Spirit" is such a dangerous place for goths to go to around this time of year - just today, I bought another goth girl dress at that store.  Actually, I kind of turn into goth Martha Stewart around this time, going to all the craft, dollar, and decorating stores to see what they have in the Hallowe'en sections.

I consider clothing style a form of self care, because if I put myself together well for the day, I have essentially created something, even if it's just an appearance, which is good for me as an artist.  I have been a frump before, when I wasn't doing as well, and it was not fun at all.

No matter what my money situation is, I will try to always have style... I think it can be very important for the mind of the creative.

Our final (?) trek to the Marian Shrine of Gratitude...

Yesterday was quite emotional.  A friend of mine and I, knowing about the scheduled closure of the Marian Shrine of Gratitude, decided to make a trek out to pray at it together, to see it one last time, if the redevelopment truly has plans to destroy it under new ownership.

Arriving, it was busier than usual - a U-Haul was parked outside... worrisome.  One person, down in the shrine area, suggested that a lot of what was being said was hyperbolic, which reassured us a little bit.  We decided to settle on the grass with a blanket, wine, and some Catholic (and some not exactly Catholic) practices.

Having tobacco on me, I offered it to the land, calling in the 7 directions and the archangels, and we did some litanies and the rosary.  One item I had brought for my friend was a Saint Joseph prayer candle I was giving to her anyway, so when I suggested we do the Litany of St Joseph (because we were praying for the property and St Joseph is a great go-to saint for property concerns), she decided on that moment to use it.  We lit two candles, and later offered them to the statue of St Michael, before leaving.  Then, things got depressing.

Security guards had just pulled up, and one said "Effective immediately, everyone is to clear off this property for us to clean it out".  It didn't look good.  We left, my friend in shock, me tearing up as though I had just found out my childhood home was to be demolished.

I don't know what it means, and can only hope that the new owners are simply going to reinvent it, so it becomes accessible again to the public.  I was really excited about this find because it meant something to me while I struggled, that even in a city as unspiritual as Toronto, gems like this could be found.

I don't know where to go for this kind of experience locally anymore.  I'm still quite sad about it today.

Heartbreaking news about the Marian Shrine of Gratitude...

I was just passed the link to an online petition created to save the Marian Shrine of Gratitude from redevelopment, but based on what I read, it might be too little too late.  I am tearing up quite a bit about this.  The Marian Shrine has beautiful land I felt welcomed by, and I'm certain it helped me in my healing journey, at least once.  Once again, more evidence to suggest that Toronto has no respect for the sacred.  More than just a refuge for Catholics, the land is rich spiritually and people of many faiths have enjoyed its sacred energy.  This might have been Toronto's answer to Lourdes, and now it's being destroyed.  My heart is broken.

That's all I'm going to say about it for now - not finding more evidence of the scheduled teardown online, a friend and I are going tomorrow to pray.  Then I will know for sure if this is real.

Help save the Marian Shrine of Gratitude

Video: Channeled download on why seeking fails (when it fails)...

I am not sure if I am repeating my subject matter yet or not, having done many of these - if that is the case, my apologies, I need to go through and look at everything again.  I am deleting some of my older, more awkward videos as I get used to doing these - they were always meant to be casual, nothing flashy.  I really am just doing these for pure enjoyment at this point, and it's interesting how much stronger this ability has gotten in me with time.

Hooray - the monastic retreat with my friend is tomorrow!  I hope the weather is good, it would be nice to enjoy the falls again, maybe.

Video: Channeled download on evading dark forces...

Another one of these now - I may just do one here and there, for fun.  Something felt slightly better in me again recently, as of August 5th, so I thought it was time for a new download video.

I'm headed out again to that monastery very soon, this time with a friend.  This has been a very intense year, and getting two monastic stays in felt right, especially considering the bust with any potential trip to Rome.  We have discussed the potential of a trip to Mexico, I'm not sure if that's in the cards for 2023.  I would certainly likely buy a lot of religious kitsch if I went!

(I am kind of like some kid with Pokemon products when it comes to Catholic gift shops.)
